Billy Campbell began his career in film and television as a Camera Assistant at the age of 16 and so was immersed in documentary filmmaking from an early age.
During his film production degree he shot the short film Island to Isla winning the Kodak Award for Cinematography.
When the opportunity came to direct he drew from his experience of the factual film industry. His films directly critique the craft of documentary making and the relationships between subject and filmmaker.
His directorial debut went on to win Bafta Best Short Film and the Bafta New Talent awards.
